2026 Whitetail Season Preview

We are mere days away from our first hunt group for the 2026 Whitetail Season. We hope to open the season with a Twang and a Bang as we host a group of archery and muzzleloader hunters in Week 1.

In the build up to the season we have been busy with our preparations. Setting up the tree stands, baiting, re-baiting, and baiting some more.

We have been constantly checking our trail cams.

For the majority of the fall so far, we have had very mild temperatures, above the seasonal norms, but the weatherman is forecasting a downward turn to the thermometer which will increase the feeding activity of the deer. Even with the mild temperatures, the deer already cant resist the easy and plentiful feed at the bait piles.

Last year was a record year for average score here at Chaparral and we have high hopes the trend of higher scoring deer over the last few years continues.
