2025 Whitetail Season Week II

This was a big week for big deer at Chaparral. It was also a week that proves our stringent management program is working, and producing big mature Whitetails.

17 year old Cooper started day 1 of week 2 off with a beautiful 150 inch, 7 year old, 270 lbs 8 point we called “Echo”. Taking our youth out in the outdoors is by far the best thing we can do. To be able to guide Cooper to his first of many Saskatchewan Whitetails was an absolute pleasure. What a pleasant young man! And a great young hunter.

Followed by Dustin on day 3 with a very respectable 6 year old main frame 10 point. I will never get tired of seeing my friends/clients smiling faces when I pull up to recover their deer! Congratulations on a great Saskatchewan deer.

On day 5 of the 6 day hunt Josh connected with the “Flyer” buck. 9 years old, 160 inches, weighing in at 260 lbs. After hunting Saskatchewan for 7 years, this is Josh’s personal best Saskatchewan Whitetail. I’m very happy to have been able to be part of your PB! Now we can work on that 170”. This deer is a great example of “let them go, and watch them grow.“

Also on day 5 we were able to bring home our biggest deer of the week! Ed Johnson (Uncle Ed) a veteran hunter of 30 years in Saskatchewan was able to anchor our week with a 166 inch, 7 year old, Saskatchewan beauty. At 3:05 pm I received a call. On the other end of the line was a very excited voice! Ed had shot a great buck. I could feel his excitement over the phone. These are the things that make our job as guides/outfitters so rewarding. When someone who has hunted Saskatchewan for 30 years can still feel the rush and adrenaline that we all get when hunting these great animals, it’s just amazing.

Group photo time! Recovering Ed’s deer will be ingrained in our memories.

The emotions felt when sharing these moments with my friends/clients are unexplainable. Looking forward to next year with this great crew.

I also want to say thank you to the other 4 guys that hunted hard. And passed up numerous up and comers! That is a very large part of our end goal. To hunt and enjoy trophy Whitetails!
