The Last Day Buck

White Scribbled Underline

As whitetail season comes to a close, the final day starts with a flurry of action as hunters and guides alike prepare to set out. Even on the last day of the season, Greg sets out to ensure all the bait stations are properly stocked.

The End of Whitetail Season

"For our our baiting practices we stay on top of it, of course, I never like to let a bait go too low. There’s always a bale there. There’s always something to hold the deer at the bait, you know good alfalfa, good hay. We freshen up with grain every every two days."  - Greg Lavoie

The Bait

Plenty of hunters are out for the last day of the season but one hunter in particular, Robby Tieman makes the most of his final opportunity.

The Hunter

"This is my first time in Saskatchewan. It's pretty cold so we got prepared and geared up for long day sits. I’m here with some buddies and some work clients, I’m really just along for the ride this time but I wouldn’t pass up a trip to go to Saskatchewan and hunt whitetail deer, biggest deer in the world."

The Hit List

"I saw a handful of bucks. This one right here was on the Hit List and he was the first shooter that came through today so last day, laid the hammer down. It was about 11:00. Before that I was hoping he was dead and that we were going to find him, It’s just a dream to come up here and hunt big deer like this and to be successful is just something to bring back home and have memories for a lifetime."
