September 3, 2014 – Changing things up

It’s time to change things up a bit here at Turtle Lake Saskatchewan, fall is in full swing and it’s probably the best time of year for me. I love the outdoors and the absence of Mosquitos makes it that much better. Camp is also changing from its sleepy summer mode to the hustle of preparing for hunters. Already myself and Kyle have put many a hour on the quads, moving trail cameras and looking to improve our hunting area. I post many deer pictures weekly because I believe that’s what hunters want to see and I take pride in finding good bucks to show all viewers. I want to operate the camp like I have been preaching all year, a stand goes up where a shooter buck has been seen, or another factor will be does at the bait because we all know love sick bucks will show up. My brother asked me if cameras would cause hard feelings amongst hunters and guides as hunters harvesting larger deer may appear to have special treatment. Well the deer are wild and move about lots so I can’t hold a buck to a particular bait, however to keep everyone on the same playing field each guide will pick their stand locations out of a hat for their incoming hunters. Maybe the luck of the draw will benefit a few hunters but let’s be happy for them as that’s fair chase hunting. Getting real excited about the upcoming season and if anyone has questions or concerns please call or email me (780-872-0137). I will leave you with more deer pics and a nice bull moose that I would like to hang my tag on.
