September 2, 2015 – Outfitter musings

September is here and with that comes the excitement of another hunting season fast approaching.  The trail cameras are out and stand locations are being selected. Our goal is too give every hunter a chance at a 140″ buck or better. The cameras will be out until the season is over monitoring what’s hitting the baits, Chaparral has 25 pop up tents that allow us to set up quickly on target bucks.  I have used such tents for many years and the deer adjust to them very quickly, it really is a great hunting tool.  Along with tents many wooden blinds will also be used, currently we have around 62 spots we bait every year.  Do we hunt each bait every year?  The answer is no, rotation and selective harvesting is a real key to allowing the herd to produce mature bucks. We must keep in mind that these are wild deer and as such we still require Lady Luck to help us out also.  One thing is for sure anyone hunting at Chaparral will see a lot of deer throughout the weeks hunt.

I grabbed a few more pictures during my last trip out and shall post a few.
