September 16, 2015 – Efforts to make Chaparral the best hunting destination
The autumn colors are here, the mornings have a crispness to them and the geese are back as they make their slow migration south. Definitely my favorite time of year!!
This past year I have spent many days searching for new stand locations, and it’s exciting to be hunting in areas that have never been used before. This season has five of us baiting around 65 locations we are putting on more miles for sure but the extra effort will make our camp top notch. With our mild winter and late season baiting last December our deer look great.
All of last years staff are returning and I am grateful; everyone excels at their jobs, and makes the lodge a great place to be.
Arch has been drawn for moose in our hunting area and he can count on being fired several times throughout the season especially when any of our hunters or guides spot a moose. Last year I had the moose tag and luckily was able to fill it one evening. Barry barbequed tenderloin for the camp and it was excellent, hopefully Arch bags a moose and we can continue this new tradition!!
