January 30, 2018 – Chocolate sheds
The winter is moving along and last week we received some more snow. Our WSI is still around 15 and that puts us well within the “mild category”. Hopefully the remainder of winter follows this trend.
Last weekend I was up to the lodge to check everything over and grab some oats for the horses. The deer have been cleaning up all the oats we spill during the season and a shed was laying at the base of the grain bin. We received a good snow fall the day before I went up but I was still lucky enough to find the other shed along the trail that comes into Chaparral’s yard. The horns were still fairly red on the end and I assume they were shed in the last few days. There have been many bucks around the granary but these sheds weren’t on any of my trail camera pictures. Just a smaller set but always fun to find some around the camp.
We still have room for a few more hunters this fall so please give me a shout if a great whitetail hunt is on your list for 2018.
Well that’s it for now so take care everyone, thanks Trent DeBusschere.
